Dancing is an integral part of any wedding – getting your wedding guests to join in on the party is essential to ensuring that your party is the talk of the town for years to come. Even though it may not be the “coolest” thing to do, people enjoy getting together to dance to those incredibly catchy, guilty pleasure tunes that play during the reception.
There are so many dances that are great for weddings, and we counted down our top five favorite things to dance to at a wedding:
1. The Cupid Shuffle – Cupid
What can be better than a song that gives you instructions, and repetitive instructions at that? It is the quintessential group dance for all ages.
2. Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) – Beyonce
Queen Bey started a revolution with that black leotard, and those fierce hand movements. This dance works as a fun dance for the bridesmaids, and a funny spoof for the groomsmen.
3. Jump On It – Sir Mix-A-Lot
Popping your hips from side to side, and spinning around is too great to not do. And whenever you hear the city you are either in, or from, it is pretty exciting.
4. The Time Warp – Richard O’Brien
The song that got the party started in Rocky Horror Picture Show, is also a great throwback piece that provides incredibly helpful, simple instructions. How can anyone not want to do the Time Warp? “It’s just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right…”
5. Thriller – Michael Jackson
Quite possibly the most fantastic choreographed dance of all time. The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, created this classic, statement piece over 30 years ago, and it is still relevant and fun today.
So, cut loose, throw on your dancing shoes, and get the party started by playing some of these classic dance songs!
